Re: Some updates on my Prosonice -> D-type conversion
The OD entrance mod works pretty good.
What it does is when the OD is switched on it places the .05uf and the .01uf coupler on V2a in series thus, lowering the total down below .01uf.
So it brightens it quite a bit which can be tuned with the bypass caps on V2.
When I added the OD entrance mod I didn't understand what it was doing at the time and couldn't figure out why it all of a sudden got so trebly.
Then a forum brother was kind enough to explain it.
I realize you are going by the 80's grail schematic but when I started modding my D'Lite Mr. Brown Note made a layout for a Tweaked version of the D'Lite that incorporated most of the suggestions that have been given here.
But by most reports the amps with the 100K plates seem to cut through the mix better. I have the high plates on mine but I am not currently gigging so I like the browner tone. But it sure is fun tweaking these amps to personalize them to your own tastes.
I realize your amp is pcb and the layout won't help much but it may give you some ideas for your amp.
OH, and by the way, some guys incorporate what they call a Strat switch that puts a .047uf cap in and out for the mid cap which is normally a .01uf.
