Lindley's SSS used to be an ODS?

Post by FuzzFaceBuilder »

Hey all,
I was perusing David Lindley's website and came across this picture. What'd ya know?! It seems that David's SSS was an ODS first! The idea of the conversion makes sense though, the SSS seem more of the design appropriate to the sustain DL would need for the Nationals/Rickenbackers (sp?) he plays. The gold(en) face plate puts it's construction around the same time as the Small Special that Funk has/had in his shop. Does that mean Lindley's SSS wasn't PCB?

Just thought I'd share! :D :D :D

Take care,
Hale

According to a recent interview and photo in The Fretboard Journal, that amp is ODS #002, a 50W. Controls are Vol, then the three slide switches: Bright, Deep, Guitar/Mic, T, M, B, Overdrive, Level, and the slide switch on the right is labeled "Accent." Anybody know what the accent switch does?

And, ahem... it has "character," Tony! ;^)

Like a two position 'presence' control. Probably similar to #40.

'Accent' engages a electrolytic capacitor over the 100 ohms tail of this amps phase inverter. Like an on/off presence control.

I recall seeing a youtube vid with both the ODS and the SSS.

this is lindley's old SSS, certainly not the same amp.

Lindley has(had) 2 ods's and the 1 SSS, all covered in snakeskin. The SSS is #3 100W version.

You ever seen homeboy's sartorial selections? The amp would seem to match his Mercury's interior too if I don't miss my guess. But his shitload of soul rights all wrongs in this case.

The SSS lived in Japan for a while, I recently saw it at overland express for sale. There was a posting on Mr. Dave's site a while back that the 2 ODS's were for sale, not sure if they sold or not though.

Talbany,

I moved to the area in 2002 and I've only been playing out for a couple of years, but if you've been in the area then it's certainly possible.
