Re: Veracity???
I didn't post to stir the poo, but I was interested if anyone else had put the amp through the paces. My gripe was the price, $4500.00 !!!!!.
My Francesca clone cost me about $1400.00 total when I put my labor costs into it. But, seriously, for that amount of dough, I would rather commission one of many guys here to make it......

Re: Veracity???
Fusionbear,
No problem. You didn't stir up any poo... CJ, in my opinion, was just being a typical doomsayer (i.e. people are too stupid to make their own decisions, etc...) and it got me riled. The whole reason I built my own amp is because of the lack of adjustability. It sounds like this one is pretty user tweakable.
As far as the cost goes, if I ?guestimate? correctly (assuming the guy has to pay labor & craftsman charges ? not to mention the cost of the wood in itself), the company?s internal cost may very well be $2,000 each. Now also assuming they don?t move a lot with respect to volume that may explain the high cost. Again, I?m just guessing here not justifying. True, you can build one yourself in a custom enclosure for around $1,500 but this is probably a small company so their costs may be rather high.
FWIW, I had a custom jewelry box built for my wife out of spalted maple, ebony and walnut. The person doing the work for me has done custom work for me in the past so I had a price in my head for the total cost. When I picked up the box it was $1,000 yes, I choked but she explained the labor which went into making it. It didn?t lessen the sting but I DO understand why so much.
Just my 2 cents,

Re: Veracity???
Ok, I know this thread is dead, but I have a few comments :
1) Listened to the clips - nothing to write home about. I don't know if this is actually a Komet clone or not, but for $4,500 I should be blown away.
2) I know it's unlawfull and I think it is unethical to use AC DCs and Bob Segar's copyrighted material to try and market anything without their permission. This speaks volumes to me about the morality of the builder.
3) There is a difference to me between cloning for profit obsolete or out of production amps and current production ones. If someone asks me to make a Route 66 or an SLO or a Dual Rec for that matter I tell them no, because I think it is wrong to steal a current production design even if it is technically legal to do so. I also can't believe how many builders I see on the net calling an amp a Marshall. If Marshall isn't carefull their name is going to become a generic term for a type of amp, like yo-yo or Xerox.
4) I think "Stink" seems like an appropriate name for you.

Re: Veracity???
Since the thread is dead anyways, I figure it's ok for me to make a comment on the cabs. I really like them. There, I said it.
I guess Komet cab builders hadsome nice design ideas because these look pretty cool.
Whether or not anyone buys Veracity Amps, I'm guessing their cabinet maker gets no shortage of work.
When people do those Komet-like Vs on the front of the amp, is it just thinner pieces of that lighter maple set into the front of the full solid piece of the darker wood? Or, if you looked at the back of the front valence, would it look the same as the front of it?

Re: Veracity???
Most of us on this forum have read Casey's rants on many subjects and realize that much of it is said tongue-in-cheek AND is certainly presented as his opinion. Most of us know better than to take anything he says personallystink wrote:... Thank you CJ, you're above statement just proved my point...
Since this is not the presidential election, I would humbly suggest that this discussion, which has passed beyond Garage Talk to Bar Brawl, come to an end.
Stink, it's easy to OVER interpret peoples remarks on a forum. That's one of the drawbacks. It's only amps we're discussing, not Global Thermonuclear War

Stop the bickering folks and take a closer look at those pics.

Re: Veracity???
No one has figured it out yet eh!
There is something hiding in plain sight in those photos. You need to see past that cab to see the truth, pun intended

Mr. Eastwood might have an idea.

Re: Veracity???
So we drove up from Brewster Mass to Wells Maine.
We're downing a few clam chowders down at the harbour...i tell my wife and 12 year old..."is that live music i hear?"
My daughter answers ..."Yup!"
Soon enough...we was parked and sat downed in a field with no more than 150 folks watching Debbie Meyers and her band consisting of a pedal steel, bass, drummer, guitar and i was in twang heaven...
A jolly good time was had by all.
Lots of Moskitos and No-See-Em but... it was all worthed.
