I heard he had either over 30 Dumbles, or over 50, can't remember exactly, but it was one of those numbers.

Rob.

Rumor has it that he owns more than any 1 person in the world. I spoke with Chris Flemming (fender custom shop builder & friend of John & Alexander) in Jan 07 and he said that John had around 12 ODS and a few other various models. He thought he had around 20 Dumbles or so.

Just looking at those photo's the Steel String Singer is the new frontier!

Trainwrecks have been conquered, most people can build themselves a decent clone.

Great in roads have been made on the ODS, but the SSS?
Yours Sincerely

It's basically an ODS clean side with reverb and an additional pair of tone controls after the reverb recovery. the amp WILL NOT overdrive at any volume, just LOUD clean :D.

For those of you who are interested, i attended the John Mayer concert this evening in toronto, ontario. He was using only his Dumble SSS and his Two Rock John Mayer Signature amps. This was one of the rare occasions when his Two Rock Sterling was absent from his rig !!

1. What are the tone controls, and are the internal or external?

2. Does it have Volume and Master or just one volume control?

3. What tubes were used in the output section and how many? Or were there a variety of types/numbers?

John Mayer Dumble collection

John said in a Tone Quest article in 2006 that he owns 4 Dumbles.

Through the years I've seen him with this:

the 70's style ODS Combo

the 70's 100 watt SSS head

the 80's 100 watt ODS head

the 90' style 100 watt ODS head

the 70's Overdrive Reverb head

Also, inside the Continuum booklet there's 2 or 3 ODS heads not sure about those though..

John also has a couple Dumble cabinets. The little blonde 1x12 with the EV speaker and the big 4x12 one.

He also has several Dumblelators (I & II).
