I have a Marshall MG15DFX that my kid bought and never used I'm wondering if I can mod this amp to make it a quality amp.

Sure. It's a great amp to mod. Just remove all the fasteners that hold the circuit board in place, cut all the wires and dump the guts out of there. Then remove the transformer and all the pots. You now have a pristine empty chassis you can wire up whatever you want in.

As an alternative you could start with a Marsh Amps Vibro Champ chassis. For under $100 you have holes pre-punched for Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble then use the fifth hole for either Presence or a Master Volume.

Sell that Martial on eBay and use the money to buy parts.

Yes, I believe that is a solid state amp.
The budget line from Marshall.
I wouldn't do anything with it and keep it for a small practice amp (it's purpose) or sell it to finance a tube amp.

Don't let that smoke out!
