OT impedance 5.2K or 6.6K

Is there a consensus on the best Output Transformer impedance? 5.2K or
6.6K into a pair of el34's. What about the core Laminations metal type?
What are the tone differences? I have only used the 5.2K and it sounded great , very detailed, punchy, and sweet, nice fleshy mids.

I know someone will say get the dual primary ot and try both.

And , is Toneslut gone? Website does not load today.

I think it's a matter of personal preference. I used the 6.6k for awhile and later switched to the 5.2k. I could tell the difference but I would be willing to bet that no one in the audience ever knew it was changed. Phil

What was difference? and what speakers were you using btw? I have tried vintage 4x12 marshalls w 25w greens and 30w blacks. but my favorite has been a thiel ported 2x12 w 30/55hz scumback and a Redfang alnico. all with a 5.2k output. Seems the tubes make a bigger difference so far. I am using a telefunken V1, GE V2 and siemans el34's.
Have tried the 6.6K output.

It seems like it opened it up a bit more, a little more in your face and brighter if you can believe that! I was using a variety of 2 12's the entire time I was gigging with my express. One of my favorite setups was a blue alnico celestion and an altec 417 wired series in a jdesigns cab that I picked up on craigslist. I was playing a 335 at the time with lollar imperials. Phil

335 is my all time favorite guitar. Sounds like a bitchin setup, would love to hear that myself.
I go back and forth between a 64' 345 mono, with stock ( little an the warm side, humbuckers ) and a Nocaster w Custom wound fralins ( 2%, half Alnico 2 half alnico 5)
