Faceplate/Panel Lettering...What do you use?

Post by FunkyE9th »

So I'm thinking of using dry transfers and then putting a clear coat over. Any other alternatives for DIY?

I also saw this... http://www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/index.html . Anyone tried it?

Thanks,

That's what I did here...

You could do the laser thingy or the metal stamp then fill with laquer stick.

That seems a like a product worth looking into. Another option would be making waterslide decals, used them on the surface of projects or under thin Lexan.

Yes you can make water slides then use either acrylic lacquer or nitro lacquer.
6-9 coats, let cure, wetsand, polish.

What size is the lettering you are using? I'm going down that path now.

Another option is to just go with the single lettter, ala the original wrecks. I imagine you'd want to make that a bit bigger than if spelled out. Had thought of using metal stamps, but heating each up with a propane torch (in a pair of tongs) and burning it in.

I create a jpg of the panel to size, and have Kinkos print and laminate it. Stick it on the front using double stick tape.

I haven't decided yet on size, but I did buy dry transfers to see if I like it. The letters are a little over 1/8". I don't like having to manually line up the letters one at a time. So I think those water slides will probably work better.
