My latest weird idea

The PAB is really useful as-is since I was able to lower the frequency at which the boost takes place. Now it is more of a full tone stack bypass. But...

The volume boost difference between clean and OD channels is really large, and the boost in volume on the OD channel itself isn't actually all that great with the drive control turned up much.

To me, the PAB seems most useful as a way to get leads to jump out over your rhythm playing. But as I said, if you have the gain up on the OD channel, engaging PAB just makes more distortion, with only a little effective volume boost.

Has anyone ever tried making a PAB that basically increased resistance on the MV, so that it would be an actual volume boost? So, just theoretically, if you've got the MV halfway up (500k of the 1M available resistance to ground), you could add 200k to whatever the MV is set at, but put this on a trimmer to make it adjustable.

One drawback to this would be that I really like the tonal change that I now get on OD with PAB on... that would go away.

Yeah, I thought of that, too, and it would definitely work. And I'd be able to keep the PAB that way as well. I'd have to make room for another relay (I already have 3 in there!), and I'm not sure how easy that would be in the already tight D'Lite chassis. I also only have a TRS connector currently for the footswitch. But yes, that's a good way of implementing it, Brandon.

I'm also kind of curious as to whether anyone else has even had this "need" besides me? The need to get more volume for leads without changing the tone? I'm also wondering whether this idea would even work as I describe it, or what other problems it might have?

If you use a Dumbleator in your loop you can impliment it there instead, My old Rodenberg flexloop does that-
