Yet another ODS Faceplate
I just got a hold of Visio and am thinking about putting together some stuff for the ODS-101-HRM schematic - faceplates and schematic-specific layout. So far I've got a quick mock-up of what I want the front panel to look like and just thought I'd post it for feedback.
Also, thanks to whoever posted the parts.zip file, can't remember if it was Normster or one of the Bobs, but I definitely can't take credit for the nice LED, numbering, switches, and jack.
I will probably go with something a little different for my own build - while I want it to sound like a dumble i'd like a unique look, but I figure someone will probably get some use out of it at some point.

Should go to '11'
LEDs... Green is out. Blue is cool.

Seriously, your Mid/Boost switch suggests 'Boost' is in the down position. Otherwise, i like your choices. Bright, Deep and Mid Boost are all somewhat usable IMHO (Jazz/Rock is kind of a waste of space). I kind of prefer the global master and ratio versus separate clean and drive masters.
If I could get the pots, I'd like to do a clean control panel with a pull switch on the treble for bright, mid boost on the mid and deep on the bass and lose the toggle switches.
Carry on!

Ok, post it

I posted the zip file, but I can't take credit either, I googled and found them.

It will be blue if I keep it. A friend is interested and wanted to see it with green.odourboy wrote:Should go to '11'

As for the mid boost, what do you propose? I see what your saying but I am not sure what to do that wouldn't look dumb.

Er... sorry about that. I edited 3 times in as many minutes and for some reason the attatchment disappeared. Its there now.Bob-I wrote:Ok, post it![]()
Re: Yet another ODS Faceplate
Looks great.
I've been taking these saved as JPG, to Kinkos. They print on heavy paper and laminate it. I them use double stick tape to tape it on a piece of black plastic predrilled for the controls. Just carve out the holes with an exacto knife and you have your faceplate. Remember to remove the switches and pilot light before printing.

Re: Yet another ODS Faceplate
Well Dumble just had 'Mid' in the up position. Funk went with that on his chassis. You might use 'Mid Boost', two lines above the switch and 'Off' below. The beauty of Visio is you can try anything you can think of and decide if it looks dumb before you commit. Post some variations to the forum and take a poll.benoit wrote:

What type of plastic did you use? It'd have to be pretty thin for me as my chassis is .125" thickBob-I wrote:Looks great.

Re: Yet another ODS Faceplate
I did try it with just mid. I could live with that. Didn't love it, but it works ok. I did also try two lines above and really didn't like it. Thanks for the ideas, in any case. Fun stuff.odourboy wrote:Well Dumble just had 'Mid' in the up position. Funk went with that on his chassis. You might use 'Mid Boost', two lines above the switch and 'Off' below. As for you suggestion that they should go to 11, I was thinking of taking it to the max and making it go to infinity.
Re: Yet another ODS Faceplate
Just to spur those creative juices, here's a panel I did for a recent project.. something a little different than the usuaul. (Note: the red knobs are temporary). Not sure myself if I like it, but it's a concept.

Re: Yet another ODS Faceplate
DUDE! I dig the hell out of that! It's got a 90's Trek vibe to it, big time. I don't know if its exactly what I'm going for in my build but sweet either way. If it is going to be my personal amp I just might.odourboy wrote:Just to spur those creative juices, here's a panel I did for a recent project.. something a little different than the usuaul. Re: Yet another ODS Faceplate
Here's my front panel mock up. In the lines of the Dumble/Vox designs.
I'll post real pictures when it's ready. I'm still building the amp and
the faceplate is being printed on adhesive vinyl. Hope it turns out
alright. These knobs looks nice (to me) on the drawing but they
are huge. Maybe I'll use the chicken heads.
The switch between the overdrive section knobs is the clean/drive
manual or pedal switch. My amp is a 2x12" combo with controls on top.
Sorry but it's in portuguese

This is kinda cool too.. I was actually thinking about doing a brown and cream color scheme for the faceplate if I keep the amp.
