More mids, more even response, more "Sing".

Do you know how can I do to get a more round and low mid tone like SRV. I dont like a high middle tone ,I love that low fat mid tone but very sing and clear like a Dumble.

Are you talking about changes to an amp that you are building? Or in general? The guitar, how it was setup, and the way he played it have lot to do with his sound. If you at least have the right guitar, then my feeling is you have to get a full range sound out of the amp (even response across the spectrum) and then play with the low end of the amp to get that woody character of the guitar to come through. The wound strings need to come through with plenty of definition - too much bass and it is lost, not enough and it sounds thin. I think the bass ends up being slightly attenuated for the best effect. The amp has to be tweaked to that particular sound if it is not coming from the guitar. My Mex Strat with ceramic pups had too much bottom so i had to mess with the amp to get it close. Alnico loaded pups work better. I had a Tokai which was much easier to get the SRV sound with. You want some breakup on certain tunes and cleaner on others, but always with that woody, Strat character. My experience is if you are willing to dedicate an entire Dclone to SRV sounds, then you should be able to get what you want with almost any single coil, Strat type guitar. Play with the coupling caps and NFB.Mark427 wrote:Thanks
