Fuse Holder Supplier

I'm looking for some 20mm inline fuse holders that can be installed in the secondary windings of power transformers.

Anybody know of a quality, small sized holder I can use. Where to get them? I don't care about how they look. Want them to function and last.

What about different types of fuses than the 20mm? Anything else worth considering?

I ordered some fuse holders by schurter but they are marked 32v x6.3a size.

I was wanting 20x5 mm.

Reading in Merlins book, he states the most common sizes are 20x5 mm and 32x6.3mm

Are 32 x 6.3 mm the same as 32 x 6.3a? Some places I see 32volt x 6.3amp.

This is quite frustrating. I am trying to get the easiest type of fuses to get for my side of the pond and once again it's gotta be all out of wack. I mean one rare case where the US decides to use metric sizing and the other side of the pond uses something different

Anyway, I may be totally wrong about that.

Is a fuse holder with the package marked 32V x 6.3A capable of using 20x5 mm fuses? Is a fuse holder marked as 32V x 6.3A the same as 32x6.3mm (a size I got from merlins book which may be a typo)?

I sympathize with you. Picking the right one of electrical connectors can be daunting. The numbers overlap. The commonest size of fuse in the USA is 1 1/4" x 1/4", which is 32mm long by 6.3mm diameter. The 20mm long, 5mm diameter size is becoming ever more common. Near as I can tell, it's an accident that Schurter has a fuse series that's rated for 32 volts and 6.3 amps electrically that also has physical sizes of both 32mm x 6.3mm and 20mm x 5mm depending on which model of that fuse series you pick.

But reading the data sheet more closely, the 32V rating on the Schurter is marginal. The Littlefuse models Martin mentions are rated at 350V, and are a better choice.

I don't like in-line holders, personally. I don't like the fuses in plastic lumps waving around in the air I would use something like these:

The solder terminal version (05200004Z) mounts to the chassis with one screw. It provides a mechanically fixed position for the wires to connect. The down side is that it's nearly US$2 per holder and eats up chassis space that needs to be accessible.

If you consider these, be sure to get the panel-mount version, not the PCB mount version.

Can't agree more, I have ordered from both, but always find stuff faster/easier on mouser.
