I have a Traynor MK3 YGL-3A on the bench, all original.
I need to find a replacement circuit breaker (4.55A Hold, 7.5A Break), as well as the cardboard tube type Mallory 40/40 450v filter cap replacements...
Anyone have any ideas?
Tony

Traynors benefit from increasing the values of the filter caps, better bass etc. I think these amps are great to begin with and a few changes just make them better. I have a bassmate, replacing the 40/40 with 80/80 really made the amp punchy.
Dan Torres' tube amp book has a whole chapter on improving the filtering on the Mark 3, I did it with one of mine and it worked really well. In both cases direct replacement of the Mallory caps didn't work if only because the mounting system they used doesn't allow you to replace the cap.
Let me know if you want the chapter from Torres' book, I wouldn't post it but I could scan it and send it privately.

You may be asking for copyrighted material that is outside of the fair use doctrine. I'm doubtful anyone would post that material. Maybe you can buy the book. I don't know if it is in print and/or available. Try asking your local public library to get it for you on an inter library loan. I've had all sorts of good luck doing this.modelmonster wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 8:09 pm Interested in these mods if anyone has a scan from the torres book.
