New Fuchs non HRM clip w/ off axis Royer mic

Post by dogears »

Here is a clip I recorded Thursday morning before sending TNJ from TGP his amp. Royer mic set back about 6 inches. Turned about 60 degrees off axis. A bit dark, but you can hear the organic tone. Amp is brighter than the clip. Some was lost in the mic technique. G1265. No delay. Just a touch of verb and 2db of EQ to make it cut since the clip was dark.

Amp is 100 watt 2003 Fuchs ODS. Dumbleator loop. Special power amp tweaks. New Sensor Tung Sol reissues for preamp tubes.

Ok - it sounds really good but can it get the "politician" tone too?

I can't comment on the tone, I've only listened through the PC speakers, but the playing is great. I love the phrasing, very "sax" like. I like the flurry of notes at about 1:00, followed by a breath and some more great riffs. The double stops almost sound like some sax polyphonics.

I believe you're really on to something there. You're making me cock my ribbon - and that sounds kinky. I like the highs added back in immensely. Good balance of the nice mids and lows from one of the prior clips - now with the top end back in. Me Likey! And - do I gotta keep sayin' it? Dude, you're doing some killer playing. Now hunker down and release a project! I'm buyin' already. :)
