Hi everyone,
I have just finished building my TW Express and am using moose's OT. I am using known good tubes and all B+ voltages are correct. I have followed the signal thru the amp with a listening amp and am getting signal all the way thru the power tube 1k5 grid resistors to pin 5 of each. I am getting proper B+ voltage at both pin 3 of the power tubes. On the OT secondary (I am using the 6.6 primaries), I am getting no output from any of the colored legs with the black common grounded. The OT has not ever been connected without a load. I have either used a speaker known to be good or a dummy load. When I connect a guitar and strum a chord, I get no real output but a grindy speratic sonic grind. No true noise or note. When I strum a chord and turn off the amp, I get a nice clear chord as the power is dying for about a second or so and thats it. I can post pictures but I,m not sure it would help at this point. Have I described this problem enough? Does this sound like a bad OT?
Prob solved....see answer in last post. Can you guess?

Are you sure you have pin 1 and pin 8 going to ground on your power tubes? Any Pics?

You bet Dana...they are gounded. I will post a few pictures for you.
BTW I removed the brown andblue wires from the #3 pins and connected a different OT with gator clips. I have the same trouble, so I think the moose OT is OK.

Problem solved!!
The answer lies on the power board. If you look closely, I had installed a 22K (Red, Red, Orange) in the bias circuit. I had WAY too much neg bias and it was effecting the power tubes ability to pass electrons to the plate. (I think). When I installed the 220K (Red, Red, Yellow), it brought the bias voltage down to -32DCV adjusted. And bam! I have a Wreck. The sound is superb. Great harmonic overlay and clarity. Thanks to all who have contributed drawings and posts that I have learned from.
