Musicman RD50 footswitch voltage

Post by oktorockto »

I have a Musicman RD50 and want to be able to switch the limiter channel and reverb on and off with my Lien 6 HX FX. Does anyone know whether this will work with it or what sort of voltage the RD50 is expecting to see to change the channel?

According to the RD50a schematic all the two foot switches need to do for both functions is open and close, so just a basic on/ off switch function is needed.

Your line 6 foot switch likley has LEDs in it to light up so I don't know if it's wired as needed for the RD50, but you will not hurt anything in the RD50 by trying it, it just may not work for you.

Thanks for the reply - the manual says this:

'Connect EXT AMP 1/2 only to amplifiers that utilize "short-tosleeve"
footswitch inputs. Connecting to any other sort of input could cause
permanent damage to both your amp and HX Effects hardware! If you're not
sure if your amp has short-to-sleeve inputs, contact the manufacturer.'

Is that what the RD50 has?
