Flange for octal sockets?

Post by Mark »

I have some old ceramic octal sockets that are good quality but I'm missing the flange plate and the retaining ring. I have searched the Internet for the flange plate and retaining clip
without luck. Would anyone know where I could purchase such items?

Thanks for your assistance.

I've never seen those parts sold separately, even back in the '60s when they were popular. I always liked the way they looked, especially when just mounted with the lock ring. Nice clean look, but they require a special keyed punch for the hole so they are not hobbyist friendly. Easy to use if you mount using the flange and lock ring. Sunn used those sockets. Here's a pic...

Thanks for the reply, yes they are very neat and look great. The sockets I have are quite rugged too.

The Amphenol brand were very high quality. I've worked on a lot of military and FAA equipment that used them. They were also a bit more pricey than 'regular' sockets.

Yes that is a great place for different types and sizes of tube sockets.

Page 5 has the 9 pin and 8 pin tube socket plates.

Those plates won't work. Gotta have this flange and lock ring for those sockets.

I am glad I found this topic. I found a bag of the Amphenol ones and could not for the life of me figure out how they mounted. The only drag is that a 1/8" thick Dumble style chassis is too thick for them.
