I've bought one of these
https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_fxl8_pro.htm
It has loops so I can use the FX loop of the Dumbles and put stuff in front as well if necessary. It's midi programable so will control my H9 and M5 pedals.
There are two jack sockets for amp channel switching etc and I was wondering if I could make up a cable or two to control the OD and boost of my amps.
The outputs are programmable to be either latching or momentary and the polarity can be altered as well I believe so the LED's work as you want.
My #102 or second gen have two relays so this would be perfect if I could make it work.

I'm going to say it will probably work just fine. I recently bought a Boss MS-3 and it looks like your gizmo will do the same type of amp channel switching. I picked up a Boss FS7 to connect to the MS-3 for the channel switching on my D-Style amp. I will have to re-wire one end of a MIDI cable with a 1/4" TRS plug to go from my amp to the MS-3 but that's easy enough to do.
I'm really liking this setup. Extremely flexible preset switching using my own overdrive pedals and amp channels without all the "pedal dancing" I was doing before. The built-in effects are all the latest Boss-quality effects too so no more individual reverb, chorus, delay, vibrato, compressor, etc pedals! It even does a great tube screamer and pretty decent fuzz. Still on the fence about the Wah though.

yes, that's what I thought, wire a midi plug on one end then just need to work out how to wire up the TRS plugs on the other. I imagine I'll need two cables into the midi connector. Then it would be a case of programming the looper to have certain sounds with clean or OD or Boost.MakerDP wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 4:29 pm I'm going to say it will probably work just fine. Why do you think you'll need two cables into the midi connector? Does your unit have two jacks instead of a single TRS?
Here's the back of the MS-3...

The "CTL OUT" is a simple TRS. Tip for OD on/off and Ring for Mid Boost (or vice-versa of course.) I'm just going to cut off one of the midi jacks and wire the correct wires from the cable into the TRS points and away I go. Just got to make sure internally the MS-3 knows if it's NO or NC and latching or non-latching for each line. The FS7 isn't required with my setup, it's just a nice-to-have way to manually switch channels and boost without having to select a different preset patch on the MS-3. The presets inside the MS-3 can handle all of that internally if I want it to, or you can have it both ways which is how I'll have it running eventually.

Re: anyway to wire up this to looper to change dumble switches?
I have two sets of switcher jacks, I presume they're mono and each has it's own LED, which is actually better as you can see the status.
I'll make a cable soon and have a play with the looper and see what happens.
THanks for the input.

Where there's a will, there's a way....
Wired this up for my amps to use with a GCX switcher and works fine.

Gotcha. You could probably just use some heat shrink and Y the cable off at the 1/4" end so you only need to run one cable to the amp.norburybrook wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 8:44 am I have two sets of switcher jacks, I presume they're mono and each has it's own LED, which is actually better as you can see the status.

The status LED's is one reason I got the external footswitch too. It is nice to have the LED status indicators especially with the boost.
Good luck! Using a pedal looper has transformed my stage setup. I am loving the flexibility.

Re: anyway to wire up this to looper to change dumble switches?
thanks,
Yes, I have a couple of pedals like the eventide H9 and the line 6 M5 that are midi so with this looper I can actually use the midi to program pre-set changes and the like.
Ironically I went back to NO PEDALS when I recorded my album this year

The looper is an amazing device for such little money. Only 10 years ago you'd be paying Roger Meyer or Pete Cornish large sums of money to make you something similar.
I bought it on a whim, so need to really think about what it can do for me and switching the Dumble relays would be a great start.

Re: anyway to wire up this to looper to change dumble switches?
Yeah the only pedals I use during recording is an overdrive occasionally. Any other effects I use what's in the DAW so I can dial it in precisely how it fits in the mix. You know what they say... you can't undo recorded effects without re-recording the part. I usually record with an amp sim (S-GEAR) so I can get an acceptable tone very quickly and then since my recorded track is actually just a dry guitar signal, I can tweak S-GEAR to suit the mix or reamp the track through a real amp.
I kind of got the MS-3 on a whim too. I saw a used one on Craigslist for a great price, did some research on what it could do for me and decided to take the plunge. Worst-case, I flip it for what I paid for it, but it's a keeper! The MS-3 will control other midi gear too. Very flexible platforms these latest loopers!
