Just reporting back that the switch works great and actually doesn't really pop at a noticeable level. I dig having the NFB removed on the Xpress channel and the 800 channel with the gains set low. It definitely adds a raw/lose character to both that is nice for cleans and low gain stuff. Then switching it to the 8ohm tap and turning up the gain adds a nice smoothing to the tone, sort of compression-esque I guesss. If I flip the switch to the 4ohm, the 800 channel gets this super liquid tone with the gain cranked and the mids scooped. I don't know if it that usable in band setting and can only imagine it wouldn't cut as well, but it's fun to play with.

This amp has been such a learning experience and really a collaboration of all the forum members who have helped me along the way.

Thanks again for all the insight and advice.
