Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

I've no dog in this, etc...drew wrote:This man is a very skilled amp builder, evidenced by his recent topics showcasing his work. Seems to me this is the kind of guy who should be welcomed here, not given a bunch of grief over nothing. I don't blame him for getting annoyed and wanting to leave, but I hope he reconsiders.
It would be a shame if he left over a Photo faux-pas.
On one hand I can see the irony of people copying anothers' work while selling their own and feeling violated when they're copied.
And then theres the "All Rights Reserved" ® mention on the bottom of a website because they don't want their work copied.

Though I couldn't find it on Jelle's site - so that becomes a free for all to some. (though not that even that stops some people from grabbing pics, etc)

He's only human people - unless he's been cloned.

I've had photos used on other websites where they just cropped my name and copyright symbol off. I had one ISP shut down a site in Australia for this, another in the UK paid the fee rather than maybe go to court.Tubetastic wrote:I've no dog in this, etc...drew wrote:This man is a very skilled amp builder, evidenced by his recent topics showcasing his work. These were images taken by me on a professional basis and sold to clients around the world.
It's a grim old place out there in internet images! I don't blame Jelle for protecting his images, though.
Looking back at the OP's posts it looks like he was a skilled builder, so I apologise to him for me thinking otherwise.
He says he is not in business and I believe it, he has way too thin a skin for the murky world of music electronics

I guess it is 'okay' to steal from HAD and put your own name on it.

This is a good question?jam-mill wrote:I guess it is 'okay' steal from HAD and put your own name on it.
I look at it like?.. At what point do you feel like someone has crossed the line or if you even think there is a line to be crossed at all..We have those that might take a few ideas and incorporate them into there own designs (ala PCB) or alter them slightly..
Some will go with the exact circuits but alter the look somewhat (different fonts/grille cloth) etc etc..
Some go with the same circuits, build design, and look?
Some will do an exact clone..Same circuits same look and exactly the same parts Dumble used right down to the board material and font's and suede covering
Some might even take a picture off the web.....Never mind..
So there is a big grey area here...In the end it's all a matter of your personal opinion as to when and where the line is crossed as you go down the list and these builders that sell these amps could open themselves up to such criticism (here especially where those that build could easily have more respect for HAD's talent)..Knockoffs exist in virtually every market now..This debate has been discussed many times since this forum first opened..

I remember the old Guilhem web site which seems to have gone. It had very clear images of excellent clone work of just about every iconic guitar amp you can think of. There was an almost OCD attention to detail.
But the texts pointed to someone who is perhaps not a great team player.

is it just me, or are all the posts in this thread blank?
weird.
I swear... all I could see were signatures, attachments, and all the user content was blank.
Now I can see it having replied to the thread. strange!

Make sure you logon.
I had reset my logon to logon automatically after the server crash.
