Hemp cones and some dope to help tighten them up a bit. One speaker is doped and one is not. And yes I used Elmer's glue to dope the speaker. If it's good enough for Ted it's good enough for me. They sound great and boy can you hear the difference between the doped speaker and the undoped one. 😄

So the Elmer's is pliable enough for full speaker excursion?

Good to know... where did you get the new cones?

I got all of my parts from Weber Speakers. I've done 4 speaker jobs and with all of them I've had to trim the cones in order to get them to fit the voice coils. During assembly the cones still seemed a little tall and depress the spider about a 1/16" so keep that in mind when lining up the VC windings. Is crucial to get the VC windings cenetered with the speaker top plate.

Tom,

I haven't had any issues with cone movement using Elemers. I might try using something else on my next speaker.

Try using "airplane dope" or anything containing "glyptal". This is closest to actual speaker dope
