I would safely estimate that 3/4 of the amp builders I've known have, at one time or another, put in an e-cap backwards.

And the other 3/4 know what it smells like to let the smoke out

Many many moons ago when I got my first Fender champ I recall that I pulled the tubes to test them, got distracted by a phone call and ended up putting the recto and output tubes back into each other's socket!
The amp did not blow fuses, but did not play either and the took near 30 minutes to see my error, lol!
We all do stupid shit at one time or another !
