Really stupid question

Been messing with my D Clone, I am ok to just run the preamp section and pull the power tubes if I want to use the preamp section as a standalone for practice? I suspect I should be but am now suffering from severe brain fart

You won't be able to run your speaker(s) with just the preamp tubes. The preamp feeds into the power amp, then to the speaker - so if you pull the power tubes, no signal will get to the speaker.

That's the general idea, I have a 1 watt power amp that I would like to run rather than the full on roar of 2 6l6 lol, just making sure I don't fry the OT

If you pull the power tubes your B+ supply to the preamp will go up. It's not going to sound "the same", you might like that more, you might like that less.

Do you have a dummy load? You'll probably want to go that route if you're looking to jack the preamp into something other than the power amp inside the amplifier itself.
