Just my two cents. I had a $100 Monster studio cable about 10 feet .
I hated it. I gave it away with a Matchless JJ30 that I sold because it rolled off so much high end. Like another cut control. On the other hand I still want to kill the guy who ripped off one of my Spectraflex fatso flex tweed cords. My favorite.

I'm not a fan of Monster anything.

Find a cord that sounds good to you and have fun!

It's not just a matter of finding ONE cable, IMHO.
I would say there are different cables that do different things better than others.

Quite boring. There's no need to pay 100 €/m to have good cables, neither to ear differencies between them. A 30 pF/m cable doesn't sound like a 120 one.

This thread has aged a bit, but I'm still using the same exact Blue Demon 20 footer as when I authored this. Still haven't tried any George Ls or Vovox or any of the other high end offerings, probably because I don't think it'll get much better than LC, but I'll try the other stuff eventually, just to see for myself. :)

I use a LavaCable ELC. Fantastic cable. Noticeable increase in low end clarity, more depth, top end sweetness. More.

Been using George-Ls for years. I've had zero problems with the connectors. I have a quite exotic pedal board with requires many cables, but it stays wired. I always bring a backup for the guitar to board and board to amp connections. I've never used them.

That said, there are times I use some higher capacitance cables for specific amps to rolloff a bit more for recording. I agree that it doesn't really matter for live sound. Well maybe a bit for my 3 piece, but never with the 7 piece horn band. Effin horns are always in the way. :P

Hey Dave, what's the length of that ELC you have? That cable is also significantly lower than the Mogami values per foot, so I'm not surprised by the clarity you've noticed.

VK, where did you get your George Ls? I may just put down for a 20 footer and have myself a little shootout with the George, LC and Mogami.

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that recording an audible difference would be great and I may just be up for doing that, as long as you guys can stand my playing.

Ten feet.

Yeah, Mogami 2524 is about twice the capacitance per foot as the Lava ELC.

I purchased the George Ls stuff from Guitar Adoptions many years ago. Seems the business site has changed to http://www.daveswoodstockmusic.com

It looks like they still sell the stuff, but I haven't officially done any business with them. I bought several spools of the .155 cable plus straight and right angle ends.

I'd love to hear your comparison.

Oh, and just to stir the pot.

Vovox cables are made in Switzerland. The Swiss franc just tanked bigtime by Government fiat, so I would wait a little while, you might get your $159 10 ft cable for significantly less.

I used some Canare video cable 11pf per foot in my Dumbleator, sounds good, cost $0.30 per foot. Maybe I should try that in a guitar cable??

David, I've been playing red Canare (made in Japan) GS-6 for 12' guitar cables. Does what it should--transparent, no rolloff. I like the feel of the cable.
