who makes a correct tweed harvard chassis?

Re: who makes a correct tweed harvard chassis?
AFAIK, no retailer carries one. I tried hitting up a couple bontique Tweed builders to sell me one with no luck. I ended up having a Weber 5F2 chassis machined. If you going to use a faceplate you could use a blank Mojo Deluxe chassis.

If I can get the overall dimensions I can run 2 off my next batch of chassis's. The holes might not be 100% right on with the originals but I can make it functional looking at the originals.
Re: who makes a correct tweed harvard chassis?
I have an original '57 Harvard. I can take some overall measurements but not every hole in the chassis. I can also provide some pics.

This would be a good chassis to have for Tweedle Dee and perhaps some 5b6 combo amps if I enlarge the preamp holes for octal sockets.

So then Weber's 5F2 chassis is pretty close at 13.75 x 4.13 x 2.59. All you need to do is drill holes for the third input, another octal, and a 7-pin (or another noval). It's been done before: http://www.tjadamowicz.com/amps/Projects/proj07.html

That guy really did a nice job on that project. Thanks for the link!

Yulp I could build one. I just built a 5f2a chassis and it wouldn't be much to laser cut the other holes. Pm me if your interested.
great pics!

Here is the Weber 5F2 chassis which is very different from the one above.
The Lauren is a different style 5F2.

I guess they have changed, The one I got from Weber earlier in the year and had machined was just like the one TJ used.M Fowler wrote:Here is the Weber 5F2 chassis which is very different from the one above.

There is little about that PDF that indicates any change without having the "TJ" chassis to measure. The octal and noval sockets are still in the same place and still allow room to add one more octal and one more noval. And there is still room to squeeze that third jack in. The Mojo works as well. The Weber is Stainless, the Mojo is chromed, and both are already silkscreened.ToneMerc wrote:I guess they have changed, The one I got from Weber earlier in the year and had machined was just like the one TJ used.M Fowler wrote:Here is the Weber 5F2 chassis which is very different from the one above.

This is why I don't build repro's anymore. Sourcing the parts becomes a major pain in the ass and in the wallet when I can just buy and punch an aluminum chassis.
Re: who makes a correct tweed harvard chassis?
My chassis faceplate matches the Lauren drawing, but has the univ OT holes spacing, small choke mounting centers and the welded ground stud. However, the underside was like the TJ one, with only 2 octals, speaker jack and one nine pin. Thus, an amalgamation of all three.
The machine shop just cut another octal and .375 between centers of the existing holes and I had them cut a .625 to the right of the existing 9 pin.
