Matt,

Wow, just wow. I am without words to express adequate support for you and your situation.

I myself have had a wild ride the last couple of years, both the good and the bad, but it certainly pales in comparison with your experiences. This is truly an amazing group of people in this forum. Life has gotten in the way of new projects for me the last couple of years, so I am afraid my technical contributions have been very minimal, but I am thankful for the chance to log on and hang out for a few minutes every day. Life goes in cycles. Don't give up hope.

Thanks Matt. I was not trying to steal your thunder, just sharing my personal observation that life goes in cycles. I am in a good place in my life now that I could have never imagined two years ago. I am not particularly religious, but I am an optimist. A little goes a long way.

Wow, Matt, I never thought you'd actually go "public" with this stuff. I think it's a wise decision on your part. I've racked my brain countless times and you've been in my thoughts every day since we started talking, a year ago almost to the day. All my ideas for you either had dead ends, or you've tried the avenue already with no luck. I really hope some fresh ideas and or overlooked opportunities come to light here.

Matt and I have talked on the phone for countless hours, not just about amps. (Thinking about it, amps probably take a close second to the *other than* category.) I'm happy to call him my friend, and I'd more than willingly do whatever I can for him. If there's anything you think of, just give me a call brother.

I know you're not exactly in the financial or even physical situation/condition to up and move. But, here in NY state, there are job placement agencies like ETS, Manpower, Westaff, and more, that do in fact work hard to get you placed into employment that fit your needs, requirements, and abilities. I know Vermont has some, also.

It'd be nice if there were agencies in your location that you could go to like these in my area. They've helped me many times when I was in need, they just work. I'd say come hang out up here with me, but I'm very unpredictable. I move almost every friggen year it seems, and I do NOT want to live here much longer. (Long story why I'm here, and not the place to talk about it.)

I really wish you the best, man, this infuriates me personally, as well as it should every single person reading here.

This is all confusing to me.
Federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1111 : US Code - Section 1111: Murder) states for the definition of murder of any degree. The victim must die directly of injuries within 12 months.
Ergo...No death, no murder according to U.S.Code.
No state can pass laws that trump Federal law. The preemption doctrine originates from the supremacy clause of Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution. This doctrine states that any federal law, even if it is only a regulation from a federal agency, supersedes any conflicting state law, even if that law is part of the state's constitution.

Attempted murder is a different story.

Man, sorry for your circumstances.

What ever happened to being found innocent and have it all over and done with?

As far as recovering damages, seems like a lawyer could take a civil case based on contingency.

Not sure where your trial happened, but a number of years ago a friend of mine was arrested for some weed he had on his person.
He had made a few enemies among the city leaders and this was a direct result of them being pissed.
They kept pulling him over trying to nail him with a DUI.
The only problem was, he didn't drink alcohol.

Nowadays that would be laughable, but back then the cops just about ruined him because he was a notable person.

When cops lie, prosecutors lie and the judge goes along with it, we are really not that different from any of the
crappy countries that do this type of thing everyday.

Not much any of us could do to help you but, if it is any consolation, you are a very valuable asset to this forum.

I know, that and $1.00, will get you a cup of coffee and not much else.

Best wishes and prayers sent your way.

P.S. What was the PHD you were going for?
Tom

I feel for you, brother! I can't even begin to tell you how this pisses me off... My better half read it too and she started talking about how we could make a little room in the basement... "We could put a bed down there, wouldn't be much..." That kind of thing. Trust me, she was serious.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to you. Seems like most of your brethren here on TAG are very supportive as well. Keep your chin up man... All of those positive thoughts about your situation have to lead to something good as a result.

I'm thinking c bass was right, maybe you should move here to the mid west. They tend to treat self-defenders like heros. You could probably use a complete change of environment. If you need help or coordination from this end, we would gladly help you to relocate here.

The situation you are in will probaby feed itself perpetually... Wake up and look out the same window see the same things and you will start feeling the same thing. Sounds like you need to break that cycle. Look out a different window in a different location and you''ll start to see different things, maybe new possibilities.

PM me... Let us know if there is anything we could do to help. And thank you so much for all of the helpful advice that you have given to all of the members here!

"Accused of" and "convicted of" are two different things. Last I recall, employers around here may ask if you've been convicted of a felony within the last ** years... I don't even know how legal that is anymore. There is a small town type of mentality around here. People tend to just want a good job done, if you haven't been convicted of anything, especially with a long drawn out trial, then you are innocent. They are pretty sharp to keep an eye on known pedophiles and such... I have no problem with that.

There is plenty of work around here and probably other places as well. Maybe not exactly what you have done in the past, but plenty of opportunities to move forward with your life and start a new chapter. You are too young to stay shut in for the rest of your life. If you don't relocate, the a-holes still know where to find you. Don't give them a chance. Count your blessings... you are free to do what you want and go where you want, for the most part. Don't let anyone else dictate how you live.
