I think that if you like the Veteran 30, you will like the Retro 30 even more. It is similar in style, but it is a bit more open sounding and bright. It's a bit smoother (fixing a bit of amp raspiness that came through with Veteran 30s for one of my amps). Also, it has a bit more of a bold muscular tone, that still sounds pretty big in a 1x12 open back cab compared to the Vet30.
The ET-65 I also like, but it is more even sounding and more muffled in the highs than either of those speakers. It is smooth as well. I'd say it's a very versatile speaker that sounds quite good with pretty much any amp. Great for taming a JCM800 with too much high end harshness.
Creambacks are sweet, but about twice the price of these. Sounds to me like you are looking for a Retro 30 though.

Thanks for the detail reply, my question is whether the Retro 30 is different enough from the Veteran 30.bcmatt wrote:I think that if you like the Veteran 30, you will like the Retro 30 even more. Yes, it is different enough that I would say my Liverpool sounds "good with the Retro 30 but "bad" with the Veteran 30.Alan0354 wrote:Thanks for the detail reply, my question is whether the Retro 30 is different enough from the Veteran 30.bcmatt wrote:I think that if you like the Veteran 30, you will like the Retro 30 even more. Also, do you have any experience with ET90? I listened to a video comparing with ET65, seems like ET90 has more of the upper mid that gives better sounding in OD.

Re: Speaker suggestion for a Marshall combo build
I have had both the Veteran 30 and Retro 30 and I was under the impression the Retro 30 is slightly brighter then the Veteran 30.
