I wanted to build something outside of my comfort zone, so I tried my hand at a PCB preamp.
I decided on the MKIIC+ thing, and used Bancika's documentation : http://diy-fever.com/amps/mesa-mark-iic-pcb/
I used that trace mask to etch my board using this method :

Chassis: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet ... 46-1458VG4
Toroidal Transformer : http://www.antekinc.com/as-05t280-50va- ... ansformer/
I used 12VDC regulated heaters for kicks, to get a grasp of how that works : https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=25725
I got a lot of great help and insight from ampgeek. Thanks Dave!!
When I started this project I naively figured that doing a PCB preamp would take a fraction of the time it takes me to build an entire amp, but it took me damn near a month to wrap my head around everything and build it, and I didn't even design the board. I'm a bit dizzied by it all, but completely thrilled. I can see how designing a PCB holds much more weight than I imagined.
I'm running it through my Magnum44 pedal/power amp, which gets the job done, but definitely highlights why those valvestate amps of my youth suck.
A simple Marshall power amp is in my future.
Right now it all sounds a bit sterile for my taste w/ the ss power, but it's really neat to hear a high gain Fender pre that isn't a Dumble. I'll get some clips up soon for some taste testing. I'm being really picky as this thing sings.
Oh I hate the knobs, I've got some black metal ones on the way, I hope!

That looks fantastic.
Question: what's the measured DC voltage on the input side of the 12V regulator?

Re: MKIIC+ preamp build
After connecting the two 6.3V taps in series, and after rectification, ~16.5VDC.tele_player wrote:That looks fantastic.

That PT is 115V input, 122V here.

Well done! I may have to give one of those a go.
