Heresy

Post by jestaudio »

I know full well this is heresy of the highest order lol, anyone had any experience with the Tubemiester 36, I have one as a small venue amp, got great tubes in it, dirt and drive sound very good, clean, crap, very hifi and sterile, just wondering if anyone has done any work on them and could suggest a few changes :)

If you do not like how sterile it sounds and it has a feedback circuit with no presence control then disconnect it.
If it then sounds too raw and may be loose on the bottom end than play around with adding a 5k to 30k resistor in line with that feedback wire you pulled off.
If you want smoother compression out of it ( if it has a ceraimic driver speaker now) the Eminence Red fang driver for the price would be a great pick for a 12 inch driver!

Be great to, PCB amps are a pita and I cannot get a scheme for love nor money

Does the amp have board or chassis mounted speaker output jacks?
Does the amp have a presence control?

2 separate PCB, no presence control. most of the preamp and power section are on the maim PCB, 4 el84,s 2 preamp tubes and what looks like a cathodyne for the drive eq , I suspect that the clean channel is actually op amp rather than valve driven, I,m actually playing with the idea of getting or building a valve preamp and just chucking it in front to warm the clean up a bit
