No Nickel Cliff Jacks?
I just ordered some Cliff jacks, genuine UK, from a couple of places. I got the regular ones with the plastic front on them. But the order place with Newark was for ones with a nickel front nut. Other brands (read: cheaper) have these but I want genuine Cliff brand and they do make them: manufacturer #S4-1298.
However, Newark just sent me an email saying that they cannot deliver because their supplier and/or the manufacturer (Cliff I assume) has discontinued them. Well that just sucks, I'm thinking. Why would they stop making such a cool looking jack?
So I'm wondering if anybody knows where these can be had. Again, the number is S4-1298, unless that has changed.

Damn, you're right!
Even AES doesn't have them anymore!

Re: No Nickel Cliff Jacks?
You're post was worded in a super confusing way, but if you are thinking that the ones with the chrome nut have been discontinued, I think that would be very unlikely. That is a very popular, widely used product. I've ordered the stereo version directly from Cliff recently.
Re: No Nickel Cliff Jacks?
According to the Cliff website, the manufacture's part number is CL1298A. It is part of the S4 family of jacks.

Maybe this is just a Newark issue? I see them in stock at Antique Electronics Supply, S-H901

Blindog,
WOW, depending how you search! If you go to AES and click "Jacks & Plugs" then filter by "1/4" Jacks" they won't show up, but if you filter by brand "Cliff" INSTEAD of 1/4" there they are! Ever since AES "UPDATED"
their site a few months back, searching their site has become problematic. If you already know your part numbers, you're good to go, but without the part number, it's become a bit of a crap shoot! That said, I like to give as much of my business to AES as possible, as I'm big on helping to support smaller "Ma & Pa" type businesses, especially when they treat their customers with respect. I think AES is pretty top notch in that respect! They actually seem to pay attention to their customers comments and concerns.
Just My $.02,
Gene

Gee, they come right up on the AES mobile site (Safari browser) starting from "jacks and plugs"...

Weird, I didn't use a part number for search. I just selected Jacks and PlugsThe Ballzz wrote:Blindog,

Re: No Nickel Cliff Jacks?
Yes Mark, that's what I said. Try it by going to Jacks & Plugs and filtering by "1/4" Jacks" instead of Cliff, you'll get most of the other Cliffs, just not the model we are talking about! This is what I get:
https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/j ... 22%20Jacks
Hence the issue with their search function.

Re: No Nickel Cliff Jacks?
I see what you mean...seems like the 1/4" filter is the gremlin. If that's selected, the chrome nut, solder lug Cliff does not appear, even if you select Cliff as a filter! Re: No Nickel Cliff Jacks?
Yep, AES has 'em. Sorry if my OP was confusing. Guess I was confused at the moment. I had not looked for them at many other places when I wrote that. I just got an email from Newark saying their supplier had discontinued them. (Why would they?!) So I guess it was a rather half baked post to start with.
My apologies. Now I'm off to order a few for the bin.
Thanks!
