Nah, the chassis just has one too many inputs. Maybe a good hole for an input jumper switch. :D

Thanks for the offer! I am looking for a .005uf cap, not a .05uf. Thanks again, jelle

Btw, I planning to have a buddy compare it to a 5e3 when it is done. When that power transformer comes in, that is.

Beautiful build, as usual!

This thread has me wanting to build one next, though I am hoping someone will post clips or a good description of the tone soon.

I have three pulls from my Dad's collection - Tiny Chief .05uF 400v, Black Cat .05uF 400v, Aerovox Duranite type 488 .05uF 400v, and an NOS Sprague (black beauty?) .047uF 600v. Any of these work for you?

Best,

Greg

Ooops! That comes from only 6 hours sleep after finishing a 75 hour work week. I don't think I have anything vintage in that size, Jelle, but will double check.

It is alive. 406V on the first filter cap. About 180V on V1 plates. The orange drops need some breaking in but so far I like it.

It sounds like a bigger and better behaving 5E3. :D

Which PT did you go with? Is the voltage above with GZ34? Looks good!

Has anyone considered the Mission Amps transformer for this build? Lower voltage, no?

Mine is very close to the MA and nails the documented HAD version.

Thanks, Jelle. You're using the clone 5E3 PT from MC and you hit it almost exactly. There is another version from MC that has international primaries and two sets of HV taps, "vintage" and reduced voltage, but it looks like the low voltage taps aren't necessary.

Exactly, there is clearly no need to have custom iron made for the PT. :D

Have:
Blackface Deluxe Reverb
clone JTM45
clone JCM800 2204
Blackface Bassman
Colossal Made Express

Don't have (yet):
Clone Trainwreck Rocket
Clone ODS
Tweed Deluxe
Tweed Bassman

..... and finally the ultimate amp I don't have, and likely never will, but haunts my dreams with amp lust on an epic scale:

Welagen Steel String Singer
