Im picky I prefer a true bypass in all my effects. Now I was looking at my 6g15 reverb unit and realized that when the reverb is bypass or when the signal is mixed the signal still goes through a cathode follower.
Now my question is can I remove the cathode follower? What would happen? Is it just there to push the signal along? Would the mix function still work right? What are your thoughts on this?

Just use a 3dpt to bypass the effect. If you connect the ouput to the input, you'll switch the reverb effect into a Super Squealer.

The CF stage does two jobs - it buffers the dry signal from the guitar pickup by presenting a low output impedance for inputting into the following amplifying device (so helping the dry signal to retain its integrity through all that length of guitar cable), and it ensures a good guitar pickup-level of signal to mix with the wet side.RockinRocket wrote:Im picky I prefer a true bypass in all my effects. If you make it true bypass you will lose all this mojo.

The 6G15 doesn't provide unity gain.
When paired with a true-bypass switch you may notice a noticeable drop in signal strength when you turn the reverb on.

Ya the bypass box was an option I was thinking of. That seems like the best option. Thanks everyone
