this is the second time will never use them ever again.
Next the Mercury Magnetics transformer set sounds marginal at best.
I used the same tubes so that's not it. All voltages are in spec.
#1 totally out preforms this second build, The good part of this story is
I did get one more 1959 OPT today. Thanks Mercury Magnetics I feel
like I shoot my self in the foot with your product Oh give it time to brake in
It either sounds good out of the gate or not, Tone Clone my ass.
Am I happy I will be after I buy a new PT like I used in the first build.
Hard lessons soon not forgotten. So much for the twins. Happy 4th of July.

Steve. :D
wouldn't be the first time I had a customer insist on MM and a month later taking it out, at his expense of course!

What model not sure it's for x2 6V6 4/8 ohm taps.
606-947 and K-58459 All I know it was from a Fender warehouse
I got the last three two for me and one for Eric.
Thanks for the response. Googling suggests that this was actually a Conn organ amp OT, used with 7868 tubes; 7200 ohm primary.

You can see the part number on the tranny in the pictures in one of the AK threads. The guy at one point mentions that he thinks that this tranny may be the same as a Fender Deluxe Reverb tranny, but he doesn't say where he was getting this information from.

No doubt Fender could have been experimenting with that particular OT (these three could have been test samples), but it doesn't seem to show up as having been used in any production amp. I also take the 7200 ohm primary as being a ballpark figure. 8k is pretty standard for 2x 6V6, but even 7200 seems a bit high for 7868's.

Steve, as long as you are waiting on parts, would you be willing to measure yours? Feeding 400 Hz AC into the primary with the correct resistive load on the secondary should get an accurate answer.

I have 2 of the same OTs. Indeed they came out of a conn organ that was running2 pairs of 7868s in stereo. I measured close to 8k . guess it don't matter where they came from cause they sound great.
I'm running them in parallel in a 6g3 type deal .

Cool, thanks for the data cbass and Steve! The Hi-Fi guys seemed to like the sound from those OT's too.

Steve, did you replace both the PT and the OT at the same time or sequentially? I'm wondering how you have concluded that of the two transformers the OT is the essential piece.

Martin, I replaced both transformers, And they don't sound exactly
the same but close. #1 & #2 that is. I have new burn in tubes in #2
After 50 hours I will change the tubes to 2 Raytheon 12AX7 1961
black plate's RCA 6V6 and Amperex GZ34. #2 is just a back up amp.
Keith our sound engineer is out of town until September so I will have to
wait for the full spectrum analyzer screen shots.

MC 40-18021 PT
MC 40-18022 OT

I may consider putting a bucking coil in there if needed.

Looks good Jelle and so far no problems with my amp using those transformers but the real test will be on a gig I guess.
