I saw this quote from Brandon in an old Amp Insider:

"There are 4 basic voicings of the clean channel. Classic, Skyliner, Bluesmaster, and the Ripper. There are also a few different overdrive circuits. The Standard, HRM (Hot Rubber Monkey), and another more obscure circuit known as the MegaPlex. I believe The MegaPlex circuit really only exists in the Ripper model."

Everything I read about the Megaplex makes me more confused.

No additional information has been mentioned since then. It seemed like the incarnation of Larry Carlton's latest Dumble, before moving on from HAD's amps and switching over to Bludo, was said to be a " Ripper/Megaplex." However, the clean section and the power amp were the same as a Blues Master in that amp, the difference being that the overdrive included a cathode follower and one gain stage instead of two gain stages like a regular BM. That would not explain what makes the "Ripper" the ripper...For what it's worth, although I never actually bonded with the BM, it can be made to sound great. My brief experiments with the LC overdrive circuit were different, that amp sounded harsher to me no matter what. Interestingly enough, I have found that every single Marshall amp I have played is capable of being dialed in to sound great, smooth or aggressive, but all the HRMs amps with internal overdrive tone controls have been a compromise to say the least.
