Seattle Guitar Show this weekend

Post by bueller »

Any builders in Seattle going the Guitar show in Kent, WA this weekend 9/23.

http://www.seatacguitarshow.com/default.php

I'm sharing a booth with my friend who sells a lot of used PRS guitars, pre-'91 stuff usually. I'm going to bring a couple home builds and maybe some extra parts. If you want to talk about amps for hours on end stop by.

I'm definitely going to be there. I'll swing by the booth. I didn't realize there were any other Seattle builders on amp garage. What builds will you be bringing to the show?

I'll probably bring three builds. A single ended head that's best described as what Jim Marshall would have made if he had copied Fender's Champ instead of the Bassman, a 5881 version of my high gain head, and my favorite high gain head which is a melding of Mashall and Bogner ideas into a low voltage cathode biased EL34 power amp with gain and master volume switching and a tube buffered effects loop.

I'll also have a Bogner XTC to sell as I no longer use it. And for some reason I seem to have a bunch of 3K primary SE output trannies from Mercury Mag that I never used. And a couple reverb tanks, caps, etc. etc.

Yeah, stop by and play some guitars. Those shows are usually pretty boring after the inital rush when they open.

What's the output rating on those SE OT's? I might be interested in one or two.

I'll check Mercury Mag spec sheet, but they are big, like 4 lbs. I was using them for the High-Octane schematic. The one with three gain stages and a single EL-34. They have 4,8,and 16-ohm taps.

Axiom OT SE-3K Single ended -- 4, 8 & 16Ω taps

Here's what Paul from MM said "The Axiom SE-3K output is a very nice piece for a single ended amp using an EL34 tube. These are not your normal Tweed Fender sized pieces. The output and power are both larger and will really give an open tonality to the EL34 tube."

I built a couple single ended amps and then went on to push pulls. I guess I had asperations of making many more SE's than I did. I also found I like the EL-84 which needs more like 8K primaries. For that I use the multi-tap SE output from MM. Which has 3K,5K, 7K, and 9K taps. But it's about a pound and a half ligher than the big 3k model. I have one of those still.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I want something for a SE EL34. Let me know how much, or if you have anything you're looking for let me know, I have more old iron than I will probably ever get around to using.
