Dr Z Antidote

The two volume knobs suggest maybe a Tweed Deluxe inspired preamp only with KT66s.

Whatever it is, Dr. Z has another winner.

Great range of tones.

More research suggests it's based on the Remedy, which is supposedly Plex-ish.

Still has some tweed sounds to me.

Thanks Matt. I'm in the planning stage for someone that wants a Rocket with an additional channel. He's a Neil Finn fan, who blends an AC30 with a Tweed Deluxe. But then he locked on this video.

abbreviated note.

KT66 power tubes using ultra linear output transformer.

Front end is similar to earlier Remedy design; one input feeds high/normal simultaneously, allowing to blend them. Has four band EQ. A Vintage/Modern circuit which gives the user the ability to time warp the amp’s voicing from mid 60’s to early 70’s and back again with the flip of a switch.

Located on the rear panel is a jack for the footswitchable EQ bypass function which dramatically increases gain and thickness in both channels when activated. This can be used as a lead boost or a higher gain channel as the amp’s High/Normal volume controls can still be used to adjust the gain and tone even with the EQ bypassed.

Years ago I built a amp off AX84 forum called the Swamp Thing a SE amp but has single input, hi and low gain pots to mix the signal. Treble, middle, bass and drive (MV).

I currently build something similar called the Swamper basically a mix of JTM45 and 5f6a using a pair of 6L6GC's. Hi/Lo mix gain pots, TMB and MV.
Cathode bias on 1st build and fixed bias on second build.

You can solder in whatever bias/bypass caps you desire on V1 to get a great mix.

Thanks Mark. Still trying to convince my customer to do a rocket with another simple channel.

I gigged an octal Rocket with EL34's then 6550's for 2 years running a pedal board in front for my high gain songs. I cleaned up the circuit for higher head room buy lower V1a 220k anode to 120k and added foot switch bypass cap boost on V1b. No need for effects loop it takes all pedals really well through the input jack. Viola a two channel amp. If building from scratch I would go with a PT that has more HT voltage at least 325-0-325 and the 4k3 Dynaclone A470-S works very well and is over spec'd to handle the wattage.

For $62 from Sweetwater he can have a great Klon type effects pedal (EH Soul Food) that does not destroy the original guitar tone only adds very nice coloring, great pedal for that cheap.
