your thoughts on this idea

Post by rutledj »

I've been wanting to build an amp that has the typical fender clean (Deluxe reverb) and a second channel with a marshall tone (jmp 2204). I was checking for the existence of such amps and saw a demo of the soldano lucky 13. He claims it is two amps in one package.

The amp has 6 12a tubes and 2 power tubes. Obviously both 'amps' share the output section.

Has anyone else tried creating two separate preamps switching them out using ldr's? I tried to find a schematic for the lucky 13 but was unable to.

Thanks,
Rut

Bogner Shiva. Clean and overdrive channels only share the first triode. Fender clean channel and modded 2203 overdrive. Come together in a series effects loop akin to the D-lator, and very effective master volume on the effects return.

Without LDR's or any switching even. One of the common mods I offer on Fenders that have 2 channels is to leave one stock and convert the other to "tweed/marshall", by changing the tone stack and usually adding a mid control crammed into the #2 input hole. The residual noise is low enough the player can select the channel with an external AB box. What's kind of funny, with one channel marked Vibrato and the other Normal, most decide to make the Normal channel into the Ab Normal one. :D

Thanks for the schematic. It is very helpful. I plan on building this from scratch so I'm prettty free on the layout.

Any chance you might have the poweramp section?
