Welcome Dave,

I love having options in magnetics. BTW, you might want to post about the replacement Marshall OTs in the Dumble section...

I am able to have YOUR audio parts replicated, and produced a lot quicker than YOU going to Pacific and doing it yourself.
So do you have the original spec sheets or are you offering winding services?

My name is Dave Thomas, my father is Patrick Thomas (CEO of Pacific Transformers). Pleased to meet you all!
Welcome, Dave. I hope you learn from that Facebook incident, that it's good to take a breath before talking with someone else. We get a lot of people just dropping in to make a profit, while not making any effort to make a contribution. Good luck with your endeavor!

I would love an excuse to finally build an Express.

Pacific Transformers* only knows parts by their part numbers. They don't however know their part numbers for which amplifiers they were dropped in to. Right now I'm working tirelessly trying to match parts we've done for customers in the past to classic amplifiers they were for. I can reference a part number and plug that part number with that model Trainwreck into my own catalog. If you know the part number for the Express, I would be really happy to look that up for ya and help you out. Also check with JT Customs as he has a good handle on replacement parts for Trainwrecks. From my understanding he helps you guys out with parts. He is a distributor of our parts.

To Zippy:
We have the original spec sheets (since we drew em), but cannot put those out. We make the irons for you.

To John_P_WI:

Marshall parts are really HOT right now and we are trying to jump on this wagon. We know that over the years we had many "one-timer-off-shoot" people come in and have us copy Marshall parts for either upgrades, or replications. Only problem is, those files are under those customer's names, and not by the parts we made for them. 33 years of files is A LOT of names. And in those drawings, it would have listed an old Drake part. That would be crucial for the classic Marshall OT's... What I'm basically saying is: we have em, but it's finding a needle in the haystack. But we're looking come hell or high water. We can also reverse engineer any of the parts any of YOU may have. I will check out those threads at some point today and see what people are looking for.

I can sweeten the deal for any of you on this forum. If you have an ORIGINAL amplifier part (be it burned, or not), and can tell me what amps it works with, if we don't have that part in our catalog, your prototype is FREE. It is YOUR's to do what ever you want with it. Just let us know how it works out for ya! 8) You are helping us out by building a catalog. In turn, I would like to help YOU out.

Is the original part going to be destroyed in the process, or does that come back intact?

For an exact duplicate, OT's MUST be taken apart, and unfortunately are no good afterwards.

I'm sure it would take a lot of time and effort, but it sounds like you would be well served by building an Excel spreadsheet database of all your data sheets, so that you can search for original part numbers.

That's exactly it. A catalog of these parts is crucial for us. If you have a burned OT, you're in a real win situation, here. Heyboer makes replacement HIWATT parts; bought one from them for my HIWATT, which I bought with a burned OT (for a steal). Dropped the Heyboer part in while we were engineering the Partridge OT and wasn't too impressed. It wasn't that bad, just not as good as I was expecting. When we finished our part and dropped it in, it was that tone and feel I was looking for. I'm waiting on a HIWATT part to arrive from across the pond to land right here in Anaheim, CA to see how our's compares...not that I think any of you really give a shit about HIWATT

If it's got tubes in it we give a shit.

So what I gather is pacific is going retail for guitar amps and you'll now do one offs of pretty much anything? It's like a new golden age in tubeland.

For this forum at least maybe we should not step on RJs line card, assuming he cares, maybe it's less work for him. I'll still buy from RJ till I hear his thoughts on it.

RJ orders his own custom wound parts (with his own part numbers) from us and is a distributor. We aren't selling his custom wound parts. You can only get those through him. He was the first one to call when I entered this forum and he informed me who he was and what he does, and which parts are his. He orders in bulk, beings he's a distributor.

Thanks for being upfront about that. I'd be loathe to take out a good original transformer, and replace it with an "authentic" replica part. Getting a new prototype in exchange just doesn't work for me.

Consider also whether you want to wind PT to original specs or change the ratios to get the intended original voltages.

As doesn't for pretty much anyone, but a failing OT or burned one still works just fine...but to also mention: anyone looking to replace a chinese part in a modern reissue amp which (we've done a bit) are guaranteed to come out on top.
