Seems to me you should have built the amp first then asked questions well at least that's how I build amps. :)

Seems like we were being tested

fowler: yeah i'm sure i'm irritating some folks, sorry! i'm not trying to test anyone? not sure how you mean.

structo, here are the voltages in dc:

V3 pin 7 = 248

V2 pin 7 = 246

V2 pin 9 = 230

V2 pin 3 = 7

V1b pin 6= 134

V1a pin 1 = 152

V4 pin 1 = 172

I may actually not need to change the PT, actually. I would still like to know how high I can safely go, though. The cannabis rex is extremely loud. Also, I would not be able to fit a larger transformer.

Actually those voltages look pretty good.

The power seems to be around 11 watts.

11 watts, really? Seems like alot for a single EL84. I did use it at practice today. We play loud, and I didn't even need to crank it up all the way. PT was pretty hot to the touch, but not unbearably so.

Yeah, when you burn your fingers on the power switch, probably time to look for a higher current rated PT.

PT shouldn't get more than warm (unless it's getting heated radiatively by the output tube - one EL84, probably not). Total power consumed by that tube could be 12W or a little more, but output power can't be more than 6W or so.
