as the title says i scored some iron the other day. Triad PT and two Stancor OTs, NOS

Triad has a 600V CT at only 50 ma... and tube rectifier heater?
could i get more current using a tube rec? can i really use this for anything? are these stupid questions? am i talking like a valley girl? OMG

maybe thats why no one has used it yet... but im creative dammit!!

you guys got any ideas? i dont mind weird tube types n such and my OTs are universal 8W class A, pri 1500-4500 ohms at 75 ma max (i wish!)

i been looking at datasheets, 6aq5 draws between 30-47 ma... but i built one o them already... i know i am bound for this sort of thing but i want some pizazz "vibratolo" i dont know.

It's been talked about here a bit. Frankly, a Tweed Champ is almost there anyway. The Trainwreck twist is to provide some tone shaping without reducing signal to the output too much.

Why not take the 5F6A preamp and drive an SE 6V6. The 6G6-B preamp (bass channel) is also scary, but needs tweaking.

your idea of having a 6V6 SE with a preamp of choice to drive it really got my brain a twerking

i think what ill do is build like a prototypers board, mount everything on a hunk o wood and get some sockets going with long leads and terminal strips and breadboards and iphones and the moon!!!

You might be able to shoehorn in a pair of EL95 in Class AB. 50mA probably isn't quite enough. I think you are looking for real at any sort of Champ variant you want to build.

OTOH, if you want to do a triode amp with one or two 6SN7 (that is, two or four triodes), you might look at what I did here: http://home.comcast.net/~psymonds/6SN7amp.htm Put any front end you want on it. I first tried it with a floating paraphase inverter (Ampeg) but it sounded like crap. From there I moved on to a concertina, which I actually did with a 6AQ7. The schematic says 6SL7, but I couldn't bear the thought of a wasted triode from a desirable tube like a 6SL7. A third tube (if you have the filament supply) would probably put you close to 15W into a ~6.6K output transformer. This is a very clean amp. It probably needs a pedal.

Careful. I'm building a production parallel SE now, and I can tell you that you want to watch the lead dress carefully. Mind the phase of the leads.

i like triodes, my other amp is all pentodes so it would make me a well rounded individual to experiment. who needs those other pesky grids?

We discussed your amp years ago and still never built the amp but still have plans to build it. What wattage is this amp? The 920vct is huge do we need that much voltage?
