The cathode resistor on the 6V6 should be the 3W, 470 ohm resistor.

Maybe there is some color shift in the image but that doesn't look right - should be yellow-violet-brown.

I may be slow to build but I always check the value of each resistor with an ohmmeter before putting it in the circuit. I make up that time by not having to trouble shoot new builds as much.

I called him and explained that in order to provide you with good information, he needs really tight shots, and that he should post all sorts of voltage measurements. He is going to work on that. I also told him to check things with a meter instead of relying on the values on the components.

The resistor in question is supposed to be 470, and he is getting .470 on the meter. Whether he's using the meter right is another issue.

Thanks Zippy. I am definitely going to check that resistor.

new to the board

I thank you in advance for being patient and helpful. Since I am new to this type of forum my learning curve as to how best ask for help is steep right now.

470 = .470k

It could work...

Thanks for checking in with him, Steve.

This is a nice lil' community.

I haven't seen the meter. He says it's auto-ranging. Now that I think about it, .470 ohms would be a bit on the low side, since it's not all that far from the resistance of a piece of wire.

Not if its really 0.470k ohms.

He couldn't find a 470 ohm resistor at Radio Shack, but they had a 500. I told him to buy it and meter it. If the meter says .500, then the resistor that came with the kit is correct, and now we know how to read the meter.

Sounds right, many DMM's will read in reference to 1K, so .470 would be correct for a 470R.

Steve H, where have you been hiding buddy.

I had my latest amp ready to go last year, and I started putting components on the board. Then I realized I had drilled a mirror image of the correct board.

I put it down, forgot about it, got back into machining...

It would take me like two days to get that amp running. I better do it.

The board is ok- it's not a mirror image until you install the eyelets/turrets.

Well, I wouldn't have stuck components on it without the turrets in place.
