But here's what I don't get... this is a chassis kit from a known vendor, and it came with the standoff holes pre-drilled in the chassis. I don't see how it could work with the holes being where they are, wouldn't they know this?

I feel your frustration,it happened to me,turrets suck in the 5e3.Mine hit the input jack too.i took it off the stands and screwed it tight to the chassis with some board in between so nothin would short out.i couldn't believe after all thirs time I had into it the board install was a problem.mikey

The root of the problem is that standoffs and turrets can create havoc with the narrow "box" Fender chassis, neither of which was it was setup for. If you stick with the configuration as designed, eyelets and flush mount board or use eyelets and a sub .250 standoff, you will rarely have fitment issues.

A vendor (maybe Mojo) will complicate things by providing a board with turrets, which makes no sense in this style of chassis to me. Maybe they figure turrets are easier for first timers. They try a board with turrets and assume just because it fit model 5XXX, they it will work for model 5XYZ as well.

Thus, you can't always assume that just because they sell a kit that they are experts or even experienced at amp building period, not all kit vendors are in the same league as Metro or even Ceriatone. I cannot stress enough to mock up a rough assembly before you start to melt solder.

FWIW, I purchased my first (and last) predrilled chassis from a popular vendor as a means to save time for a build in the queue. Turns out, the OT mounting holes were not in a true square (!), the choke holes did not line up for standard choices for that part, and the IEC socket was closer to the chassis corner than typical (causing me to have to purchase a customer rear panel on top of an already custom cab from my regular supplier).

Also, at the same time I purchased the chassis, since they did not have the panels to go with the chassis in stock, I asked the vendor for a document showing the front and rear panel hole locations so that I could easily make a panel for laser engraving, saving me the time/hassle of measurinqg the X/Y locations for each. They promised they would but this dragged on for two months. Then after I asked again having grown aggravated with repeated requests and waiting, I was told they were worried I would clone the chassis. I told them if I was going to clone the chassis to compete, I would have done so months before and wouldn't have bothered to politely ask for a drawing and I would have also QC'd my CAD/CAM to ensure that the transformer mounting holes form a square on the chassis deck.

First and last time I will be doing business with them. So don't assume that ready made replica chassis match up with your expectations.
