Please, no no no no nooooooooo.............Mark wrote:Perhaps we need to run a script to get rid of the dead wood?
OK maybe I'm behind the times, with a 15 year old computer and dialup, but now hear this: sites with scripts just stop me dead in the water and I haaaaate that! Yes I have script-blocker but that's no help. What should take 10 seconds takes 45 minutes to accomplish when I have to disable the script blocker. At one time I could pay my phone bill in a minute: write a check, stamp the envelope, done. Now they want me to pay online and it takes nearly an hour. Bo-o-o-o-o-ogus! Damn' if I'm gonna buy a new computer and go hi-speed just to satisfy the companies that want me to pay bills online as well as communicate commiserate & generally hang around on a useful and entertaining site like TAG. There's upsize, downsize, but the best is rightsize, and as far as I'm concerned TAG is rightsized right now. Let's not fancy it up unnecessarily. I don't need to see any cute cartoons or anything like that. Phooey on scripts.
What COULD be done to "clean up" the members list - send a polite email to those who haven't participated the longest. RSVP ASAP or get snipped off the member's list. (I'll call that the Bobbitt plan.) Then work on more recent non participants. Maybe require at least one post per year to stay "active."
FWIW I was a lurker for about a year or two until I joined up proper-like. Even without being able to view photos & schematics it was still educational, thought provoking and entertaining (that's you Miles! and cbass too!). Gently encourage participation, that's what I'm getting at.
