Eagle Scout
I don't know if anybody is into this stuff, but my kid just made Eagle and I felt like shouting. I wasn't much into it until he joined, but I think it changed his life and it certainly changed mine (being forced into being a Scout leader). Like I said, just felt like shouting.

Congratulations to you and your son. My nephew just made Eagle a few months ago.Firestorm wrote:I don't know if anybody is into this stuff, but my kid just made Eagle and I felt like shouting. You have every right to sing it from the roof tops. Congratulations, to both you and your son. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Congrats!
Yes, you deserve a lot of the credit as well.
That achievement requires dedication from not just one, but many.

Re: Eagle Scout
Congrats!! I got my eagle in 1972. The scouts are a great organization and the world would be a better place if every boy had the oppurtunity to become a Scout. It teaches a lot of things to our young boys that is severly lacking but very needed in our society today.

						Re: Eagle Scout
When my son first joined as a Cub Scout, it was because we went to the Elementary School open house and were accosted at the front door by a martinet in a Cub Scout leader uniform who said "You are going to be a Cub Scout; we will do fun things, go places...You are going to be a Cub Scout!"
I was horrified that a strange man wanted to drag my precious son into a paramilitary organization and fill his head with ideas about duty, honor and God knows what. But we did it and I've never regretted a moment of it.
There's a lot of negative press about BSAs reaffirmation of their ban on gay members (mostly applies to leaders), but people don't realize that Scout units are beholden to their chartered organizations: mostly LDS, Catholic and Methodist churches. It's their objection, not ours.
I wish all boys everywhere could be Scouts: the world would be a safer, friendlier, kinder, more trustworthy and loyal place.

Re: Eagle Scout
Congrats Firestorm.
I never made it out of Cub Scouts....
Eagles are a very cool group.
I know they help law enforcement a lot around here with searches and such.
You have every right to feel proud of him.

Congrats! I got my Eagle in 1979, and now my kids are in scouts. My older boy gave up scouts for fly fishing after he made first class, and my younger boy is now in cub scouts.
I never realized how tough it is for parents to keep their kids active in boy scouts. Hats off for making it all the way!
