EJ first Demo
I found this clip on the interweb thingy.
Very early recording of Eric Johnson when he was in the band Mariani.
Vince Mariani was the drummer.
Don't have the full song but it's a taste from 1969.
Eric was 15.

Re: EJ first Demo
Interesting. In the beginning it seemed very Hendrix-influenced to me, but then later in the solo he goes in a different direction (around 34 seconds), and I can't quite put my finger on who it sounds like.

Interesting. Sounds a bit "Cream-y" to me.

Okay ..... in that case .....
Are you suggesting that EJ sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for unearthly prowess on the guitar?Reeltarded wrote: It sounds like Satana after 31 or whatever.

Re: EJ first Demo
Sold? No. TRADED.
He's a badass! I saw him touring Ah Via in a very small room with the dual 50s+a 50, and the twins from like 8' away and realized I could dump my 100s and be happy.
I didn't. I just realized it was possible. lol

Thanks for the post Tom.
I love the way the intro lick turns the beat around. I am a sucker for riffs like that.
The solo section sounds EXACTLY like Cream era Clapton to me... In fact, if you didn't tell me who it was, I would have guessed Clapton.

+1
Many years ago 15+, I bought a VHS tape (remember those?) of EJ's, "Total Electric Guitar" or something like that. I remember he had a chapter of "How to play Clapton Style leads".....
