D'lator

Post by 10thTx »

Just another version of a D'Lator. Thanks to everyone who posted previous information on this. It is appreciated.

VERY quiet with no hum or added noise. I did not add a bypass switch because I can just turn the delay off. Nor did I add a standby switch.

The chassis is 12" x 2.5" x 6.5" The PT never even gets warm.

This turned out very transparent. I tried a 12AX7, 12AT7 NOS, 12AY7, 12AV7. I settled on the 12AT7 NOS. I liked the 12AV7 2nd best.

Voltages are posted on the schematic. The voltages were recorded with a 12AX7 (not the 12AT7).

Chassis was etched with 220 grit paper and then painted with Rustoleum hammertone paint.

Hey, nice oak table! :D

I was wondering about your choice of bypass cap on the plate loaded stage.

The original had a 47uF for a full sound.

Do you notice the lack of low end or other short comings using the 5uF?

I recently rebuilt my D'lator into a smaller chassis, this time I isolated all the jacks and it is much more quiet. I also have a choke in mine.
No standby switch on mine either.

I am going to add a bypass switch because I find it helpful for debugging it when I don't have a signal.
That way I can eliminate the D'lator as the culprit when I accidently plug something in wrong. :D

No loss of low end for what I am wanting. I think the low end sounds great. I am using this loop with the D'Mars OD Special.
