Now that I see it, it is hard to believe this style of layout wasn't brought forward decades ago and made the standard. It is simply elegant, Martin. Kudos to you and thank you for sharing.

The layout with caps on top has been done before we were just slow around here. :)

Are you calling me slow?

No, I'm asking... because I don't always get everything.. at first.

Always ahead of my time by 9 seconds.

This has proven to be a very bad strategy when crossing divided highways.

Ouch.

Here are a few clips played and recorded by my son Andrew to demo this thing. Simple rig: '62 reissue strat straight in, Avatar 2x12 with G12-65's, SM57 mic. Nice to have someone around who can really make it sing...

Thanks again to all for the positive comments.

Besides the musical distortion, the thing that stands out for me in this amp is the very long note sustain. It doesn't want to feed back easily, but seems to ring forever. I suppose this is a compression effect, but I don't know where it might be comming from.

I see I have one or two small errors in the layout I posted above, so I'll clean those up and repost in case anybody else wants to give it a go.

Sound good Martin and your son plays very well.

I'm thinking about building this so I will be waiting for updated layout and thanks for all the information.

Cool sounding amp. I bet it'll sound good with a quad of G12M 25s as well

Needs a 4x12 and everything around 7!

Love that amp!

Ok, Mark, I fixed up the Layout a little- I had the standby miss-labeled as SPST (left-over from the Express), spread out the parts on the panel switches, added a part number for the choke, and tidied up a bit. For scale the board is 4.5" x 12". Have fun!
