I predict these will go for $$$. Both the boxes and tubes look like they left the factory yesterday. Of course, this is just from looking at the pictures -- at first I was convinced they are counterfeit, but reading the ad copy, it seems they are likely to be the real thing.
One can always hope to find such a thing at the next estate sale you attend.

NOS has become the bastard child of scams.
Not that these tubes are not what they seem.
But when somebody is selling NOS tubes and they either come with a white box or no box, my alarm bells go off.
I am fine buying a used vintage tube that has be tested.
Heck it may even be better than new since it has been burned in.

Phil these tubes aren't what you think they are. The IEC Mullard tubes that I have are all made in Japan and vary widely in quality. The Japanese AX7's are fine but I have a pair of IEC Mullard 6L6's that died the second I applied voltage (tube seal died and getter turned white). These tubes (IEC Mullards) are actually somewhat infamous for this sort of issue, I guess they didn't do a great job evacuating and sealing the larger tubes. It sure pissed me off when I found out this pair of 6L6's I'd been saving for YEARS was no good...Phil_S wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-New-Old ... 231f2858e7

Hi Cliff,
I'm still suffering with no electric power at home -- why reply is so delayed.
Thanks for the info on the tubes. I had no intention of bidding. I just thought they look so pristine, maybe people want to gawk at them for 10 seconds.
I see they are at $91 with another day to go. I am guessing these will be north of $100 and south of $150 unless a bidding war erupts in the last minute. Then all bets are off. Some doof could end up spending $200 or more for them. I have trouble understanding spending that sort of money on tubes. I know I can hear the difference sometimes, but I guess I don't value it quite that much.
Best,
Phil

This guy looks like he buys a lot of estate sale stuff. I didn't see a lot of tube experience here so buyer beware. That said they are labled GT. BRITAIN and have the 1022-041 numbers I have seen on Blackburn Mullards made for Hammond. I asked him this:
I'll see if he answers

What is your basis for calling these NOS ? Did you test them or spec them out ? Do you deal in tubes or vintage electronics regularly ?
I'll see if he answers
