Mouser...a "heads up"

Post by surfsup »

I visited mouser weeks ago and put a couple things in my cart. A couple days ago, i came back and actually ordered some stuff, about 20 items. I did a quick visual check of the cart just to see if anything was backordered or if all would ship immediately.

Promptly, as usual, it all arrived today, a few business days later. However, i noticed the two items i ordered weeks ago must have been stored in the cart and were ordered with the stuff i put in a few days ago. I didnt need the two things and didnt notice they were still in there since i just skimmed the cart and saw "about" 20 items etc

So, if you did a half order in the past, the mouser site seems to remember everything you add to the cart until you hit the order button. No biggie since it was some diodes and caps that i will eventuallynuse, but a heads up in case you guys didnt realize that.

Were you logged in as an account, (the first time) or was this remembered from "cookies ?

Once I got used to that feature (I do think you have to be logged in) I got to really like it. I tend to add stuff to the list as I go along, over many days, and finally place the order when I think I have remembered every thing (which I haven't). Good to remind folks of that feature.

Using the BOM feature can expedite your order too.

But yeah need to clear out any old shopping carts.

Yeah I do this at websites that I tend to order a lot of parts from. It makes it easy to keep track of what's low in your inventory as you stumble upon empty bins.

I like the feature too (most big online stores do this), and it back-fired on me the other when I deleted my cookies. Had to wade through pages of parts again to find what I needed...

CE Distribution does this as well. I have learned to depend on it.

I placed the order logged into the site. I am not making judgement now, but I do prefer to just keep a text file on my desktop with all the mouser #s (or other site #s) and when I'm ready I like to fire em off until I'm done.

This surprised me. AES isn't like this, and some of the other ones aren't either (though I do think mcmaster does this as well).

Anyway, it was just a heads up.

Digikey does it as well, depend on it although sometimes i'll look back over what's in the cart and have no idea as to what project i was ordering a particular part for.

As regards to cookies, the program i use to delete cookies, temp. internet files and other expendables allows you to create a cookie i gnore list so you don't accidentally delete a necessary one and have to go back and recreate the the cart. Used to have the same thing happen.

CCleaner for the trash cleanup.
