I kind of balked at the price, but now they're available for $200, I'm thinking of springing for one. I thought Suhr had exclusive rights, but now I see Lindy Fralin carrying them. I've also heard Suhr might be developing something new.
Is anyone using this system?

Anyone using the BPNCS?
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.

That system is actually by another company.
I was just on their website the other day, but I can't remember what it was called (CRS disease)
Here I found it.

Unfortunately it's not cheaper through them than Suhr.
But they do have more options.

I don't know that it would be worth losing out-of-phase 2 and 4 positions for some noise cancellation.

Reverse wound middle pickup is actually a rather recent development. My 73 strat doesn't have a rw middle, and my 2 and 4 positions sound great.ER wrote:I don't know that it would be worth losing out-of-phase 2 and 4 positions for some noise cancellation.

This sounds like a very intriguing idea.
I have Lindy's in my Strat ('94 40th Aniv.) and I'm happy with them just the way they are (RP/RW middle).
If I was in any way tempted to go there and make any changes this might be worth considering.
Probably more than I'd want to spend on the pieces-n-partscaster, though.

I don't think you'd be losing the sound of the 2/4 positions, but you'd lose the noise cancellation there and gain it in 1/3/5.ER wrote:I don't know that it would be worth losing out-of-phase 2 and 4 positions for some noise cancellation.

The RP/RW middle pickup was incorporated in the standard Strats beginning sometime in 1986, although the 5 way switch was adopted in 1977.LeftyStrat wrote:Reverse wound middle pickup is actually a rather recent development. Noise cancellation schemes were used by Blackmore in the early '70s and Fender used a dummy coil for active hum cancellation in the 1983 Elite Strat.
Using a reverse polarity, reverse wound middle pickup doesn't change the tone of the sound of the strings, only the hum.
In other words the string pickup is in phase but the hum is out of phase, just like a humbucking pickup, which is exactly what the 2/4 positions are.
