tubes up layout ?

Post by Luthierwnc »

Hi All,

Working on a new build and wanted to know if you have built a tubes-up model, did you do a mirror image of the tubes down or just flip the chassis and reverse the faceplate? Thanks, sh

Well actually I have done both ways :) I prefer to have the input on the left so I try to arrange amps that way.

I've done both too but for this amp, I think I like just flipping it better than mirroring. For heads I really prefer tubes up with some sort of venting on the top or sides and back -- sometimes a fan too. sh

I had my ODS head chassis done tubes up with the inputs on the left like the standard ODS. Being used to Fenders and other amp laid out as such it seem to be the most familiar and comfortable way to do it...

Trying to build the reversed layout is a challenge, for me anyway.

My problem is I stopped on the amp for awhile and when I come back to it, I say to myself, how the hell was I figuring all this out previously

For a tubes up build the pot wiring is confusing - for a while anyway.
I double checked the schematic for every wire.
Good Luck.
